January A Level Biology Exams
In January 2010, ten of my students sat 17 exams in total. Of those 17 papers, there were five grade A and 6 grade B results. So very well done to all concerned. The results have exceeded my own expectations. Pressure is now on to maintain these standards into the June exams.
For those students who have not done so well, it is now really important to have a strategy in order to deal with the coming weeks. The reality is that the June exams are only ten weeks away. Identify why you didn't do very well. Did you do enough work? Did you miss a large chunk of the paper because you ran out of time? Were you selective in the subjects you revised? If you did badly but have no idea why, it is worth paying to get the paper back - a copy, not the original otherwise you lose the option for a remark.
My advice to AS students is NOT to resit this June but to wait until January. Do check that a school will allow this. A2 students have little choice but to work incredibly hard between now and June - but it is only three months out of the rest of your life. There is no time available to feel sorry for yourself.
